“The winter is coming”.
From the TV show, Game of Thrones has probably been one of the most repeated sentences in the Western world lately.
The Game of Thrones / House of Dragons’s winter is definitely a large climate change event…
However, the Industrial Revolution has never happened over the 12,000 years of existence of the First Men in Westeros.
So could climate change happen without human intervention on CO2?
Well at least in the imaginary world of the author of this TV show, it is.
But in this fantasy world, there are also a lot of “climate zombies”, which I really do not envy existing IRL.
And if this “Winter” were actually to come In Real Life, how could I make my house climate-proof to it?
Well, recently I got engaged and started to think more about this kind of family topic.
So 6 months ago, my fiance and I decided to start an adventure debunking this question:
How can our cities and houses become climate-change-bulletproof?
Often,
Doom and gloom, Pahn and I are quite bored of watching climate documentaries.
So for this series, we tried to make it fun, positive, and entertaining, showcasing solutions rather than sitting on the roots of the problem.
In each episode, we follow the following structure:
We start with a climate change-induced problem (heatwave, flood, etc),
We look at how historically humans have adapted to it,
We showcase existing technology solutions (lowTech and highTech) that have proven to be solid, accessible to anyone, and affordable.
Doing this series of videos, we are actually looking for people interested in owning climate-change-bulletproof homes. This could become a co-owned green real estate project for example.
To achieve that, as w first step we hope that these video contents will create a small community of like-minded individuals that can make something of scale happen in this space — will share more about the plan as we release more episodes.
